Our most popular coating system — decorative vinyl flake broadcast to full coverage and sealed under a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat for a seamless, durable, slip-resistant finish available in dozens of designer color blends.
Overview
The epoxy flake system is the floor that built B&R Concrete Coatings. It's our most-requested service — and for good reason. This multi-layer system combines a high-solids epoxy base, a full broadcast of decorative vinyl flake chips, and a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat into a single seamless surface that looks stunning and performs even better. The flake broadcast hides imperfections in the concrete, adds natural slip resistance, and delivers a finished look that ranges from subtle and uniform to bold and multi-toned depending on the blend you choose. Whether it's a residential garage, a finished basement, a commercial showroom, or a restaurant floor, the epoxy flake system delivers the durability of an industrial coating with the aesthetics of a custom designer floor — installed in as little as one day.
Our process
Every job follows the same proven sequence — because consistency is what makes our Limited Lifetime Warranty worth the paper it's printed on.
Every floor starts with industrial diamond grinding to remove contaminants, open the concrete pores, and create a mechanical profile (CSP 2–3) that the epoxy chemically and physically locks into. This is the single most important step for long-term adhesion.
Crack and joint repair is job-specific and quoted as an additional cost when needed.
A 100%-solids epoxy is rolled onto the prepared slab at full mil thickness. This base coat bonds directly to the concrete, provides chemical resistance, and acts as the adhesive bed that captures and locks the decorative flake.
While the epoxy base is still wet, decorative vinyl flake chips are hand-broadcast to full rejection — meaning the entire surface is saturated with flake until no epoxy is visible. This creates a consistent, seamless appearance with built-in texture.
Once the base coat cures, excess loose flake is scraped off and the surface is lightly sanded to remove any sharp edges or high spots. This creates a smooth, even plane ready for topcoat application.
A commercial-grade polyaspartic clear coat is applied over the flake layer, encapsulating every chip in a hard, glossy shell. This topcoat provides the wear surface — resistant to UV yellowing, chemicals, abrasion, and hot tire pickup for the life of the floor.
Why choose this system
The sealed polyaspartic topcoat creates an impervious barrier against oil, grease, gasoline, brake fluid, road salt, de-icers, and common household chemicals. Spills wipe up without penetrating or discoloring the surface.
Unlike DIY epoxy kits that peel when hot tires park on them, our polyaspartic topcoat won't soften, stick, or lift — even from vehicles driven directly into the garage on a 100°F summer day.
The full-flake broadcast creates a natural micro-texture that provides reliable traction when wet or dry. For high-moisture areas, additional anti-slip aggregate can be incorporated into the topcoat.
Polyaspartic topcoats resist ultraviolet degradation, meaning your floor won't yellow, amber, or fade over time — even in south-facing garages that receive direct sunlight throughout the day.
Choose from dozens of pre-designed flake blends ranging from subtle neutrals to bold multi-color combinations. Custom blends are available for clients who want a one-of-a-kind look matched to their space.
Fast-curing polyaspartic chemistry allows us to complete most residential floors in a single day. Walk on your new floor within 24 hours and park vehicles within 48–72 hours.

We stand behind our floors with a limited lifetime warranty for the original homeowner. Our warranty covers defects related to product failure or installation issues, including peeling, delamination, or coating failure under normal residential use. The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is non-transferable if the home is sold. Damage caused by the homeowner — including gouges, scratches, impact damage, chemical abuse, burns, or damage caused by improper use or neglect — is not covered. Natural concrete movement, foundation cracking, and acts of nature are not covered. If a failure occurs due to our installation or a product defect, we will repair the affected area at no cost to you.
